In September 2005 Frankston City Council in conjunction the Langwarrin Community Project started working with businesses in the Langwarrin area to form a Langwarrin Business Group.
The need for a local business group was identified as a result of the Langwarrin Community Project, a joint project between the Council and Federal Government to give Langwarrin residents and businesspeople a chance to contribute to the future of their community and make Langwarrin an even better place to live.
The project was designed to promote the many advantages in businesses of all sizes working together, Â playing a central role in the economic development of Langwarrin by strengthening enterprises in the area.
Langwarrin has a high proportion of self-employed and home-based businesses that benefit, from the networking opportunities a local business group provides. By working together, businesses can create employment opportunities for people in the area ensuring the local community has a sustainable economic basis for future growth.
A meeting to formalise the Langwarrin Business Group was held on Tuesday, 20th
September 2005, at Lloyd Park Sports Club.
From this meeting seven dedicated and enthusiastic business people with a vision for helping Langwarrin businesses reach their full potential formed the Langwarrin Chamber of Commerce with the first AGM being held on the 26th of September 2006.
In the first twelve months the newly formed Langwarrin Chamber grew from strength to strength reaching a membership of 48 by the time of second AGM on25th September 2007.
Throughout the year the Chamber holds a number of successful functions rotating between Breakfast Meetings, Networking Nights and Networking Dinners with guest speakers. |
